ABACE 2015 – Shanghai, China
The 2015 Asian Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (ABACE) will take place April 14-16 at Shanghai Hongqiao (ZSSS). This year’s ABACE is expected to attract over 8,000 attendees and a wide range of aircraft on the static display, proving that the Asian market has a lot to offer for the GA business over the past 3 years since the launch of ABACE back in 2012.
Below are several considerations for your operations to Shanghai during this period.
During the period of the ABACE, we highly recommend sending your trip request 3 working days prior to operation. Sponsor letters can be arranged on behalf of the operator with the local receiving party along with all the requirements to secure the landing permit. All permit requests will be submitted via SITA to the Chinese CAA along with the flight details and schedule. For urgent flight inquiries kindly contact our 24/7 ops email@example.com
ZSSS will be congested with traffic flow, and over-night parking will be restricted during the first half of April. There will days where aircraft not attending ABACE will be allowed to park over-night, with Palm Aviation network with the local authority, exceptions can be made to accommodate aircraft operating during this period. ZSSS is closed daily between 0001- 0600 local, extension is possible, on a case-by-case basis with prior approval from the airport authority.
ZSSS and ZSPD require airport slots which are issued along with the landing permit. Slots are confirmed by the Chinese CAA only 48 hours prior to arrival.
Parking slots are mandatory at ZSSS, especially during peak hours between 0800-2200 local, where there may be restrictions on operators to park. Only one slot is provided for the operator during peak hours, either a landing or departure.
There is no FBO facility at ZSPD, however the airport operates 24/7. CIQ is quite a hassle, operators would have to clear with the local authority taking between 20-30 minutes. During this time the crew and passengers would be escorted to the VIP terminal to clear the procedure. Peak hours are the same as ZSSS between 0800-2200 local, during this time there will also be slot restrictions at this airport.
ZSNJ & ZSHC
ZSNJ & ZSHC are fairly far away from ZSSS with about a 45 min flight respectively. Both airports are AOE’s with CIQ required for all aircraft operating to these airports. The facilities are limited to GA, but slots are less restrictive and these airports are seen more for repositioning for parking.
